Venice Film Festival 2022: Florence Pugh reportedly doing limited press for Don’t Worry Darling following ‘disagreements’ with director Olivia Wilde

As the Venice Film Festival kicks off today, fans are waiting with bated breath for any updates on Don’t Worry Darling star Florence Pugh and the film’s director, Olivia Wilde.

The duo are said to be feuding behind the scenes after failing to see eye-to-eye while filming the psychological thriller last year. And because of this speculation, Pugh, 26, is reportedly limiting her involvement in promoting the movie.

“Florence and Olivia have had several disagreements personally and professionally, that’s why Florence isn’t doing any press for the movie,” a source told Us Weekly

Various outlets report Pugh’s press engagements for the film will be limited to the Venice Film Festival premiere and red carpet event.

In the lead-up to the renowned festival, there has been intense scrutiny on the film – from the rumoured beef between Pugh and Wilde to the alleged salary discrepancy between Pugh and star leading actor Harry Styles.

With escalating rumours that the former One Direction singer was paid significantly more than Pugh, Wilde was forced to speak out to set the record straight.

“There has been a lot out there that I largely don’t pay attention to,” Wilde said in a wide-ranging Variety interview earlier this month. “But the absurdity of invented clickbait and subsequent reaction regarding a nonexistent pay disparity between our lead and supporting actors really upset me.”

“I’m a woman who has been in this business for over 20 years, and it’s something that I have fought for myself and others, especially being a director. There is absolutely no validity to those claims.”

In addition, the women are said to be beefing because Pugh did not approve of Wilde’s relationship with Styles. The pair debuted their relationship on January 2021, just months after she announced her split with Jason Sudeikis, who Pugh reportedly counts as a friend.

“I can tell you for a fact that Flo seeing Olivia and Harry all over each other on set did not go down well as Olivia was still with Jason when she first hooked up with Harry,” one source claimed to Page Six in July.

Wilde and Sudeikis share two children together – Otis, eight, and Daisy, five – and got engaged in 2012. But in November 2020, they announced the end of their seven-year relationship.
